I guess most of us fall into the same trap sooner or later.
We dream, we set goals for ourselves, we work hard to achieve those goals, and then we dream bigger!
The whole cycle starts again because we always have a bigger dream.
And because we always have a bigger dream, we never get to sit back and enjoy what we have.
But what if it was different?
What if we could assess what we have achieved objectively, and map it against what we want (or we might want) for the rest of our lives.
If we could do that, then we would know when we have enough.
We could sit back and enjoy what we have safe in the knowledge that our dreams have been fulfilled.
We could actually enjoy the fruits of our endeavours.
So how do we know what we have?
We talk a lot about
If our goals really are SMART, then we will know when we have achieved them.
If we know, what having it all means for us, then we will know when we have achieved it.
We can then make a simple choice – carry on or stop.
It may be that we have reasons for wanting more. We don’t have to justify those reasons to anyone else – it’s a very personal thing.
If we want more, then the cycle begins again.
We just need to be aware that’s the default position.
If we do not consciously and deliberately break the cycle for ourselves, then we will ALWAYS set bigger and bigger goals, and we will NEVER STOP.
If we do stop, there is no reason why we can’t start again later.
But most people reach a point where they just want to sit back and enjoy their life.
Having it all is a wonderful thing.
It’s even better if you are wise enough to enjoy it!
